As a mechanical maintenance intern at Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, I assisted in the maintenance, repair, and installation of the mechanical equipment used in wastewater treatment facilities. My role during my internship involved using hand tools, power tools, learning about pumps, motors, valves, and the critical parts they play to ensure efficient operations for the plant. Through the support of experienced technicians, I also learned safety protocols for an industrial environment, such as the lockout/tagout process and confined space procedures. Throughout my internship, I gained hands-on experience that has allowed me to deepen my understanding of mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
