The primary purpose of the Developmental Supervisor (DS I) position is to provide direct supervision to Developmental Technician (DT) staff in order to ensure the safety, care, programming and other services to all individuals within the assigned home/living unit. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings to provide education, training, information and communication to staff; evaluate and counsel staff on performance of duties, including giving disciplinary action if necessary; schedule coverage for assigned shift, assuring staff requirements; maintain ultimate responsibilities for accuracy of all timekeeping records of assigned unit health care staff; The DS I will ensure implementation of all training programs and services relative to daily living; availability of adequate/functional materials/supplies; continuous active treatment provided through staff training; functional activities in small groups; staff-client interaction; and encourage client choices. Investigate all injuries/accidents immediately and take appropriate action. Promote safe work habits and practices through training and implementation of facility procedures and guidelines.

To provide supervision and direction to assigned direct care staff during the absence of the Health Care Supervisor. Job responsibilities include the following:

• Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals
• Implementation of clients' habilitation and training plans
• Assist with personal care, home living, socialization, leisure and safety of individuals
• Assist in teaching daily living and other skills
• Assist in classroom, and other training areas
• Transport individuals to activities, classes, and appointments
• Shopping with and for individuals
• Assist in providing emergency treatment for seizures accidents, etc.

Perform a variety of non-professional nursing duties in the direct care of patients under the immediate supervision of a RN/LPP.

• Prepare patients' equipment and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as required.
• Obtain and record patient's data for medical records.
• Administer bathing, shaving, changing clothing, bed making, skin care and personal needs of patients.
• Take and record vital signs (input and output).
• Assist with admission, discharge and transportation of patients.
• Collect, deliver and conduct routine test of patient's specimens.
• Assist physicians and nurses with physical examinations.

Providing assistance to patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, dressing, grooming and helping with toileting.

• Observing, charting and documenting patient's care, condition, progress and concerns. Reporting and discussing observations with supervisor or case manager.
• Providing individualized training to patients with developmental disabilities, helping them improve their development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition and memory.
• Consulting with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote patient's educational, physical and social development.
• Taking and recording vital signs (blood pressure, respiration rates and temperature) as well as updating patient's medical chart.
• Giving medications, drawing blood and health screenings.
• Providing assistance with transferring patients in/out of bed, baths and wheelchairs.
• Maintaining mental stimulus and alertness by entertaining, conversing with and reading aloud to patients.
• Urinary catheterizations, both female and male catheter-care.
• Applying appropriate infection control procedures.
• Maintenance of a safe and clean work environment.
