Mission Worker

Cross World Africa
  • Completed mission work in small towns across Nairobi, Kenya in Africa during my freshman & sophomore years at Oglethorpe University (mid-June to mid-July)
  • Provided struggling populations with livestock donations (cows, goats, chickens)
  • Provided menstrual health equipment (Ruby Cups) & health classes for maturing women
  • Provided materials to build schools and soccer fields in impoverished areas
  • Provided scholarships for aspiring students to attend some of the top ivy league colleges in America
  • Shadowed the head veterinarian for the Nairobi, Kenya area, watching her administer vaccine shots & care for the livestock ahead of each donation

  • Walked the halls with Dr. Hodari Brooks among other PAs & PTs at WellStar & OrthoAtlanta in Cobb County (11th & 12th grade)
  • Interacted with patients for initial diagnoses, studied their charts, watched the surgeons deliver cortisol shots for joint pain
  • Attended surgeries for knee & ACL replacements
  • Interned with the PT department (OrthoAtlanta), helping many of the same patients I initially met while shadowing the surgeon make full recoveries
  • After 2 ACL/meniscus injuries (junior & senior years at Oglethorpe), I used my recovery time at Benchmark PT as an opportunity to shadow the head physical therapists (and other staff)
  • Demonstrated proper technique, duration & equipment needed to properly do exercises
  • Shared my experiences to patients, uplifting them so they could mentally work through their tough times

  • Collaborated with restaurant managers and owners, selling our booth repair services & gaining new clients
  • Serviced over 300 restaurants across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee & Mississippi (including restaurants like Red Lobster, Chili's, Longhorn Steakhouse, IHOP & Olive Garden)
  • Developed new skills with hands-on training in various techniques, learning proper use and maintenance of power tools, hand tools and safety equipment.
  • Exhibited strong work ethic by consistently arriving on time each morning and completing work tasks before each restaurant opened for lunch (including overnight work)
