  • Following the completion of my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, I started working for the Sacramento County Probation Department
  • Throughout my career, I experienced all of the different aspects the department had to offer which included field work with adult and juvenile offenders, court work with juvenile offenders and institutional work with juvenile offenders
  • Over the course of my career, I was promoted to the supervisor level, where I worked in the institution supervising line staff as well as uplifting a new component of the institution in alignment with new laws pertaining to juvenile offenders, Senate Bill 823 and the closure of the California Division of Juvenile Justice institutions
  • I have extensive experience in communicating with law enforcement and social service agencies; attorney’s and bench officers; as well as probation departments throughout the state
  • Throughout my career, I worked closely with our juvenile court system including the probation and court aspects
  • My integrity, character and dedication to my position established me as a subject matter expert within the department which created an opportunity to train my fellow officers and supervisors and represent the department in court for sensitive matters
  • In December 2024, I took the opportunity to retire from my career in order to further my education, in obtaining a masters of arts degree in sociology, to enable a new platform of teaching
