Hi, I'm Kulsoom (kind of like "wholesome," but swap the W for a K).
This summer, The CAFE Group's LEAD program connected me with professionals working in philanthropy, and one conversation with a CEO has really stayed with me. She reminded me that I'm more than my degree. Since then, I've been trying to focus less on what looks impressive on paper and more on discovering what I genuinely enjoy.
While I'm still exploring fields like accounting and healthcare administration, marketing has always come naturally to me. Growing up, I loved spending hours taking photos, filming videos, and editing them just for fun. I never realized those hobbies could translate into skills I'd use professionally.
Over the past year, I've been able to explore marketing from several different angles. I've created content for organizations, supported marketing efforts through my current internship, and, in my work-study role with Loyola's Department of Fine and Performing Arts, I help promote campus events by coordinating with local newspapers and media outlets. Those experiences have shown me that marketing is so much more than social media, it's storytelling, community outreach, and making sure the right message reaches the right audience. I'm excited to continue learning!
Outside of my daily routine, I am an avid cyclist who enjoys the scenic views along Lake Shore Drive. I am also passionate about reading, baking, and recently began exploring creative writing through short stories.
