Social skills, communication, and connecting with people are things that I developed through my life experiences. Scouts has taught me how to communicate and connect with others who have different backgrounds and personalities than myself. I find that this experience has helped me connect with younger kids. I have grown as a flutist through dedication to what I feel passionate about. The hard work I have been willing to put into practice has helped me to achieve my goals. My time in debate club has given me great communication skills. I am able to effectively convey ideas and information to people. These attributes help me to be the best candidate for a Pedal Heads counselor.
While I have not been in debate club for a long time I have had many accomplishments in it. I have had near perfect attendance at all meetings and have participated in every tournament that I could feasibly attend. I always come prepared and do at least 10 hours of preparing for my debates. All of this has culminated in me being the top choices for captain next year.
I have taken many leadership positions in the troop such as being a patrol leader in which I revitalized my patrol's spirit after losing a few members the term before I started. I have been troop guide a numerous amount of times I was able to cultivate a fun and educational environment with the younger scouts. Last year I was elected the Senior Patrol Leader I was told by the adult leaders within the troop that the outings that I led were well organized and had a fun atmosphere.
I have been performing Irish music at Dusty Strings since I was eight years old and each year I perform in 3 recitals. I have expanded on these music skills to play the concert flute in my high school band at Roosevelt. I have volunteered at The Empress Retirement Home to play flute for the residents.
I bike to school every day and have participated in numerous long distance bike rides with my friends I know a lot about bike safety and have organized bike trips
