As a Sergeant with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, I would be responsible for supervising and directing correctional officers in their daily duties, ensuring the safety and security of the facility. I would also enforce policies, conduct inspections, oversee inmate behavior, respond to emergencies, and maintain proper documentation of incidents and reports. Additionally, you may assist in training new staff and ensuring compliance with all operational procedures and regulations. As a Field Force Officer on horseback I would escorting inmates from the prison to work in the field, my duties would include ensuring the safe and secure transportation of inmates to and from work areas, such as agricultural fields or gardens, covering hundreds of acres. I would be responsible for maintaining constant surveillance over the inmates during work assignments, ensuring compliance with rules and safety protocols, while under armed supervision. Additionally, I would monitor inmate behavior, prevent escapes or unauthorized activity, and be prepared to respond quickly to any security threats or emergencies. Your role would also involve coordinating with other officers to ensure effective supervision and providing a visible presence to deter potential security breaches in remote areas.

As a Sheet Metal Apprentice, my job duties would involve assisting experienced sheet metal workers in the fabrication, installation, and repair of sheet metal products, including ducts, vents, and other components used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. I would be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal according to specifications. Additionally, I would learn to use various tools and equipment, such as power saws, shears, and welding machines, while adhering to safety standards. The apprenticeship would provide hands-on training, helping me develop the skills needed to work independently as a fully qualified sheet metal worker.

As a Seasonal Firefighter for CAL FIRE, my job duties would primarily involve responding to wildfires, assisting with fire suppression efforts, and helping to protect life, property, and natural resources. I would be responsible for clearing fire breaks, digging trenches, and using hand tools or power equipment to extinguish fires. Additionally, I would assist in maintaining and operating firefighting equipment, including hoses, pumps, and vehicles, and help with controlled burns or prescribed fire operations. During fire incidents, I would work as part of a team to contain fires, ensure the safety of personnel and civilians, and provide support for other firefighting operations. Outside of active fire suppression, I may assist with fire prevention programs, vegetation management, and other emergency response duties.
