Job Title - United States Marine
Primary MOS - 0311/ Infantryman
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is John Riley, I served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and it is my pleasure to submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Kyler Lardieri. I have known Kyler for over 6 years and had the honor of being his platoon commander while we were both on Active Duty in the United States Marines. My unit demanded a high level of intelligence, integrity, physical stamina and self-motivation. Kyler immediately set himself apart from his peers as a self-starter, tactically proficient, and an intelligent decision maker. He worked deftly not only to master the skills required of him but to raise the level of the team around him. During his time with my platoon, we conducted a six-month pre-deployment work up and an eightmonth deployment to the Middle East and Africa as part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During this time, we conducted multiple straits transits during which my platoon was responsible for the defense of the amphibious task force – specifically manning topside positions, helping to track and mitigate small boat activity from both state and non-state actors. Kyler was a pivotal member of these teams, responsible for tracking and communicating potential threats, understanding the clear lines of escalation of force and rules of engagement. In addition, he served as a member of our elite scout teams, responsible for conducting reconnaissance and security operations which included in depth planning, attention to detail, and operating independently in a small unit setting. These assignments required sound judgement as well as a disciplined patience. He continually impressed me and was a strong role model for his fellow Marines. As he progressed, he demonstrated he could be trusted to complete any and all tasks with little to no supervision allowing senior leaders to focus on the bigger strategic picture. Kylers individual work ethic, his calm composure under pressure and tactical instincts made him a pleasure to command and serve with. I cannot speak highly enough of him and know he would be an outstanding reflection on your organization.
