I work along side a Chiropractor. He has a Wellness Program, so we share a few clients among each other. I may recommend some for his scope of work and he may refer me for my scope of work. I have been with him since 2007. I'm self-employed, like I mentioned earlier. I promote my business through word of mouth, I feel like it's safer that way, for me anyways. My main focus is Therapeutic, however, I do have some clients that come in for relaxation. Not much of a spa setting, regardless, I still get the job done. Calming, relaxation, and peace of mind is something I promote during massage, even in Deep Tissue Massage. It helps the muscles relax and let go of tention
I also do Prenatal Massage, I have reoccurring clients, and they bring in new clients. I induce labor, or simply give them a release that their bodies are just aching for. My main focus is to keep the pain at bay if they are in a chronic state of pain.
Since I have become CD(DONA), I have had to keep my two occupations separate. I realize I can't mix the two, however, I feel they are both enjoyable and both are in the best interest in of the client. Relaxation and pain release is something us momma's need throughout pregnancy and sometimes massage is how to receive that relaxation.
Years back I was Certified in Infant Massage. I loved showing and seeing momma's and daddies bond with their babies/young children or adopted babies/young children. Appropriate touch is so healing. As i feel like Infant Massage is important, in the rural area I was promoting in was not feeling the same way. I hope and pray in the near future, the rural citizens will open up their minds to health and wellness for themselves and their loved ones.
