Experienced with identifying depredation of livestock and which predator has caused the damage.
I have dogs that are trained for hunting predators, and also have a high level of horsemanship skills. Which include arena work, working cattle and sheep on the mountain and lots of experience hunting from horseback.
I am very knowledgeable and familiar with handling, operating, and safely using firearms. I own and use pistols in 22 and 9mm calibers, rifles in 22, 243, 270, 22-250 calibers. And a 12 gauge shotgun. I have completed the hunter safety class, the concealed weapons course and a special class for DWR where we were taught to safely hunt at night from the back of a truck and in rural towns for deer population control.
I have experience with using thermals for hunting predators.
I have thirty years experience working with and communicating with producers and understanding their business and their concerns.
I have had cows and participated in all aspects of raising cattle I also own a few head of sheep so am experienced with sheep also. I also worked for a local rancher moving and herding on the mountain.
I have relevant experiences include thirty plus years of trapping and hunting predators using snares both neck and leghold, leghold traps, calling and denning coyotes. I have hunted lions, bears, and bobcats with both hounds and the calling machines and snares.
I have operated and used ATV's for farming pleasure and when I worked with the DWR trapping.
I have created stands and successfully called coyotes.
To successfully trap a coyote I would, determine where the coyotes have been traveling then find a spot under a tree or on a trail, and set my trap so it looks as natural as possible. For scent I prefer coyote urine and gland lures.
I was referred to this position by Cole Selman.
