Work History

Offensive and Defensive Line Coach

Taylor County High School
09.2014 - 12.2014

Coach Dudley Hilton and I were hired in late September because most of the staff had been fired. I worked with the offensive and defensive line and linebackers. We were able to turn around the program and made the playoffs. The program has been successful since we took over in 2014.

Assistant Football Coach

Whitley County Board Of Education
08.1995 - 12.2008

I was the defensive coordinator and implemented a defense that combined a fifty concept as well as forty concept. I coached the individual techniques that were needed to be successful for lineman and linebackers. This defense was a work in progress and had been used for forty three years with many adjustments depending on personnel. The talent level from year to year was different so it had to be tweaked year to year to be successful. Also, the offensive schemes dictated changes in the defense but this was addressed with each opponent.

Teacher and Head Football Coach

Corbin Independent Schools
08.1968 - 05.1995

I was a business education teacher and assistant football coach from Aug 1968 to May 1981. I became the head football coach in June of 1981. My first twelve years I was offensive and defensive line coach and helped with everything that needed to be done. Archie Powers was the head coach and we won the State Championships in 1976 and 1980. In 1977 we were the runner up in AA State Championship. While there, Coach Powers record was 107-28-1. My record was 114-46. We won the State Championship in 1982 in AA and were runners up in 1990. While I was at Corbin, Coach Powers and I had a combined record of 221-74-1. We won three state championships and two runners-up.
