- I worked forty years with the Virginia Department of Corrections and one year with the Virginia State Police. My career began in December of 1982 as a Correctional Officer. Since that time, I have worked various positions in the field of Corrections. The last twenty-four years have been in management as an Assistant Warden or Warden. My years of experience has taught me many lessons of working with staff, inmates and community members.
