Managed teams that audited USDA programs to identify fraud, waste, abuse, or inefficiencies and prepare reports for USDA, congress, and public information. My main responsibilities included planning audits; approval of audit procedures, evidence, and working papers; personnel actions such as time keeping, evaluations, discipline, and hiring; production and editing of reports; and liaison activity.
As a non-traditional student, I graduated with honors from Southwest Missouri State University (now MSU) in 1997 and accepted an auditor position with USDA Office of Inspector General. As an auditor, I learned a wide range of information regarding USDA including crop insurance, food safety, and program management. In 2012, I became an Assistant Director and during this time, I was responsible for numerous reports including two of the highest monetary findings of $1 and $2 billion dollars.
