• Duties include stock selection, stow, location survey, physical inventory, material handling, material examining and identifying, packing, and operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
• Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments
• Checks accompanying documentation against container or packing labels
• Follows established procedures in reporting over, short, misdirected, or damaged materials
• Packed and repacked various items using numerous standard materials, methods, and techniques.
• Determines appropriate method of packing based on the type of commodity/item to be packed
• Assembled items in the loading area based on shipping requests.
• Ensures shipments are properly loaded onto the right conveyances
• Counts types and quantities of items during inventories and maintains tally listings during the count
• Recounts or searches other storage locations to assist in determining the basis for over, short, or misplaced items
• Operates various material handling equipment including forklifts with up to 15,000 pounds capacity.
• Works independently to store/ stage material in warehouse; places material in appropriate designated areas for new receipts; items awaiting inspection; rejected items; and items pending transfer, issue, or disposal
• Uses computer and barcode equipment to process transactions for appropriate material data systems
• Utilizes Microsoft Words and Excell throughout the completion of a task
• Loads and unloads material from trucks and other conveyances and moves material throughout warehouse areas
• The incumbent independently operates Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in performance of this work

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment
• Sort cargo before loading and unloading
• Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
• Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected
• Data entry
• Ensure accurate and safe shipment of merchandise to and from the customers

• Distribute production data, schedules, and work orders to departments
• Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities
• Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands
• Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules
• Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes
• Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications
• Recording and entering production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, or quality control measures
• Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy
• Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped
• Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list
• Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the least environmental impact
