  • Duties:
  • Private Duty Pediatric Nurse: The past 17 years, working with five different clients, monitoring respiratory status for ventilator dependent children, ensuring trach is clear of secretions and airway patent. Provide medications and nutrition via G-Tube using G-Tube pump or Gravity feedings. Care and cleaning of gastrostomy sites. Also changing incontinent diapers and providing peri care, weighing diapers to determine next DDAVP antidiuretic dose to help stabilize sodium levels.
  • Monitoring Blood Sugar levels and providing adequate scheduled feedings to keep blood glucose levels within normal range, and to provide fast-action to get blood sugars elevated to prevent client from having seizures, which could be fatal. Providing total ADL’s to the hypotonic child.
  • Majority of shifts were nights to give parents or caregiver respite.
