This weekly cookout in Cal Anderson park started summer 2021 with just me, my partner, and a portable grill we found in Volunteer Park. Our goal was to continue the tradition of free hot food found in Cal Anderson park that began during the 2020 uprising by cooking and serving hot dogs and hamburgers. Over time more neighbors (both housed and unhoused) have gotten involved and the cookout has expanded to include the free distribution of resources such as hygiene supplies; sterile injection, smoking, and additional harm reduction supplies; and clothing with an emphasis on cold weather gear
