I was invited to participate in a Rotary Life, Leadership meeting in Big Rapids, MI in the summer of 2023. From that summer camp I have learned numerous ways to be a great leader and how to think like one. I learn to work with the people around me and developed problem solving skills. I ran for senate in my school's governmental body to test my leadership skills and I ended up learning more about myself. I found out that I was outgoing and willing to take risks, I was able to speak to a larger crowd of people and participate in volunteering for my community. I have great work ethics with good grades throughout my high school career. I would like to thank TC West for giving me the opportunity to achieve excellence.
This took place at Blair Elementary School every Monday during my senate period. My event supervisor is Erica Embury and she helped me set up a date for the meeting and helped me match with a little. The goal for this is to mentor elementary school students. Help them with math and make their days better. I would have little multiplication cards that I would use to quiz him and improve his math skills and most of the time after we play basketball to improve his skills when my little would start his season.
My parents own this restaurant and as a kid I really wanted to help out and make a difference in my own community. I would take orders, clean and help manage the place whenever my parents are busy.
Elementary school level kids came in to the West Senior High School's big gym to count their free throws. I would help rebound and count if the free throws went in.
Us volunteers would go early in the morning before the event starts and we’d change tablecloths usually every morning since a lot of them get ripped up overnight. We also put the chairs in the correct spot since they like to migrate overtime (from people). It honestly felt like a family on a farm who’s morning tasks was to feed the animals and water the plants but in our case it was to clean the food courts and set new table clothes. Every volunteer there was super nice and it made it feel like a family working together towards a common goal and my role just so happened to be the cleaner.
