My name is Leroy Harding, I'm 22 years old and I've always known that I wanted to work with kids and young adults.I'm a compassionate preschool teacher with expertise in early childhood development. I have a passion for aiding children in their academics and assist with their mental health. For the past 3 1/2 years I have worked with children in various settings. I have a preschool child development associate credential(CDA), currently working as a Pre-K teacher. I'm also enrolled into Southern University at New Orleans as a 3rd year undergraduate student majoring in educational studies to further my knowledge and career as an early childhood educator. As a black man, I seldom ever encountered someone who resembled me in either of those professions. I am aware of the struggles and trivialities that someone who looks like me may face. I want to able to be that person I was missing to other kids, and not just kids of color but all children.
All of my friends have always known me as a kid-friendly person. I started tutoring local children in the neighborhood. I currently offer after-school tutoring to my 3- and 4-year-old students to better prepare them for excelling in primary school and life.
Working as an independent contractor through Plus One Meetings at the Vet Girl Childcare Program, I helped care for children ages 3 to 9 years who were under their care.
