Managing Attorney, Community Law Department

Manage the Veteran's team and the Housing team within the Community Law Department.

  • Supervise a team of eleven attorneys and support staff involved in the Veteran's and Housing teams.
  • Provide on-boarding and on-going trainings for the Community Law Department.
  • Provide representation for Veterans and others enrolled in the Community Law programs.
  • Organize Veteran's clinics and attend Stand Downs and other events.
  • Coordinate with Community partners, and assist with reporting to our grant providers.
  • Enhance access to legal resources for Oregon Veterans.

  • Provide legal representation for veterans enrolled in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program in areas related to reducing barriers to homelessness, including expungement, felony reduction, sex offender relief, housing issues, discharge upgrades, family law navigation, among other areas.
  • Work with Program Managers and Case Managers with the SSVF program and Easter Seals to coordinate services for clients and to provide trainings and resources for SSVF Case Managers.
  • Work with MPD attorneys to provide support for veteran clients who are involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Prepare expungement paperwork and other relevant motions for MPD clients.
  • Supervise and mentor law students and paralegal students assigned to work with Community Law.
  • Assist with training new attorneys and support staff in the Community Law Department.
  • Organize events such as bi-monthly Veteran's Clinic, and Stand Down events to improve access to justice for veterans in Oregon.
