In 2010, my Mother faced a life-threatening emergency, leading me to gain an EMT license. This, in turn, ignited my passion for emergency medicine, driving me to pursue a paramedic degree at the College of Southern Idaho in 2016, an AD in Nursing in 2021, and a BSN in 2024. Over the last nine years, I have dedicated myself to full-time medical work as a paramedic and an RN, continuously honing my skills and expertise in critical care. I have worked in a critical access emergency department and a twelve-bed medical-surgical unit for the last three years. To further expand my impact on the community, I obtained certification in Community Health EMS, focusing on public health, safety, and education, bridging the gap for home-based patient care, and worked on projects that included state and federal grant writing.
Managed a five bed ED as the sole ED RN on shift which included duties as house supervisor for MS and the extended care unit. Patient load could expand to eight patients utilizing hall beds, support staff included one ED technician. Collaborated with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions. Assisted physicians during invasive procedures such as central line insertions or intubations, ensuring safe and accurate completion of tasks. Streamlined emergency room operations by efficiently triaging patients according to the severity of their condition. Reduced wait times by efficiently completing documentation and communicating effectively with medical staff. Promoted a safe environment for patients by adhering to protocols and safety measures.
