My name is Lindsay Alejandra Perez Esquivel, and I am a student at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, who will be pursuing a degree in both Music and Psychology. Previously, I completed and earned my high school diploma at Ruth Asawa High School of the Arts. There, I served as principal of the cello section in my full orchestra department and helped lead section rehearsals. These experiences, along with those outside of school, have prompted me to develop my skills in honesty, patience, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and reliability. I plan to take all of these with me to my next job, volunteer opportunity, and/or internship.
Orchestra/Cello
Throughout all of high school, I participated in many extracurricular activities in where I developed my skills as well as put them to use. One of these extracurriculars included being part of Community Music Center (CMC) where I received both private cello, piano, and guitar lessons, as well as orchestra ensemble lessons and music theory classes. Here, I was recognized as best cellist performer and was offered many opportunities to perform for various organizations. These opportunities included performing side by side with the CMC staff, receiving a gig to play at a gala and a church, performing at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and receiving scholarships to CMC's Chamber Music Summer Camp. Now that I am in college, I have searched for opportunities to continue my journey in orchestra. I am now part of the Salem Youth Symphony Orchestra where we perform challenging pieces.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
Member | Willamette University |
Coming to college has made me realize that I want to be more involved in my community. I wanted to create a welcoming and fun environment for students to engage and socialize. Because of that, I have involved myself in Residents House Association (RHA). Here, I collaborate with fellow members to plan and host campus-wide events that foster community engagement and student involvement. I have represented student interests by providing feedback and ideas to improve residential life at Willamette University. Being part of RHA has helped me develop my teamwork and leadership skills through active participation in meetings and event coordination.
