During my time at TJ's, I have been a section leader for cheese, as well as coffee/tea.

  • This role included managing the section, writing orders, and communicating with fellow crew & management for receiving product at one of the largest grossing locations in the Chicagoland area.

As a crew member, I also:

  • Upheld Trader Joe's unique brand model, which centers around friendly, personalized customer service and "kaizen" (which means continually finding areas in which the store could accel/improve).
  • Collaborated effectively with other crew members and management.
  • Handled cash transactions accurately and securely in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Broke down pallets varying in size from 100-800 pounds. This task included being trained on safe lifting methods and use of pallet jack.
  • Organized and merchandised product on displays with precision and efficiency.

Poet & Ambassador

WNDR Museum

At WNDR Museum, I held two roles: Poet & Ambassador.

  • As Poet, I wrote on-the-spot poetry for museum guests, based on two word prompts. I used a typewriter to create the poems, so that guests were able to take them home as a unique souvenir from their visit.
  • As Ambassador, I was also guest-facing, providing unique "surprise & delight" interactions, as well as speaking knowledgeably about all exhibits & assisting with way-finding.

Zahner is an architectural metal fabrication company, that also deals with art restoration & fabrication. I started as a Marketing Intern in my final semester of college, and was hired on full-time after graduation as a Marketing Assistant. Eventually, I would go on to be promoted to Sales & Marketing Coordinator.


Some achievements from my time there included:

  • Assisting with implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for company-wide use.
  • Being involved in the hiring process and training for new employees to the Sales & Marketing team.
  • Giving tours of the fabrication shop to visitors, interns, and clients.
  • Being involved in the sales/job bidding process for multi-million dollar contracts.
  • Leading Lunch & Learn presentations.
  • Managing the material samples libary, as well as the shipping process for material samples.
  • Content generation and monitoring of social media channels, as well as azahner.com, blog.azahner.com, and metalabs.com (Zahner's art restoration/fabrication branch).

I was awarded the 2012 Two Tone Press internship for the KCAI fall semester. My tasks during this semester-long internship included:


  • Handsetting letterpress type, and preparing designs for print.
  • Operating a Vandercook printing press to publish editions of commissioned projects.
  • Mixing ink to Pantone specifications.
  • Generating hand carved and digital designs.

KC Free School was a community art project headed by the artist Charlie Mylie. While involved, I:

  • Participated in grassroots organizing to provide free, collaborative & educational opportunities for the KC community at large, for all ages.
  • Hand printed zines, information pamphlets & fliers.
  • Taught & attended skill sharing events/classes.

Sprung Formal Literary Arts Magazine

Sprung Formal is a literary arts magazine published yearly by the Kansas City Art Institute.


My involvement consisted of:

  • Collaboration with team in soliciting work, curating, editing, designing & publishing for issue 7.
  • Coordinate letterpress printing for broadsides, as well as digital printing & binding of pages for issue 7.
  • Organize the 2012 Reading Release Party, including working with local breweries & restaurants for donations of catering.
  • My work is featured in issues 6, 7, and 8.
