- Began as a care taker and was promoted to Lead of the Caretaking department.
- Responsibilities include planning where to place people for each shift, and ensuring everyone and everything goes smoothly throughout the day. Ensuring the safety of caretakers and dogs. Administration of medication to dogs. Dealing with aggressive dogs in a safe and responsible manner. Restraining dogs while they receive basic first aid, cleaning and gluing small cuts and punctures. Training new staff and training supervisors in their respective positions. Attending a weekly meeting to discuss the ongoing problems and changes to our department. Communicating with owners about medical issues/injuries and social issues their dogs encounter during their time at Skydance.

- I began with minimal technical knowledge but was very comfortable handling and restraining animals. I am now sufficient in drawing blood on cats and dogs, getting urine by catheter and cystocentesis, monitoring surgeries (scrubbing, shaving, taking vitals, holding for intubation/extubating). I can run IH labs on IDEXX machines and am comfortable calling owners with lab results. I am very comfortable handling aggressive dogs and cats, using muzzles when necessary, boxing down or masking small animals, and using IM, IV and subQ sedation.
