• Provide direct nursing care for up to 5 patients per shift in a combined Observation and Inpatient medical-surgical unit
• Care for patients with CHF, COPD, sepsis rule-out, wound infections, cardiac conditions, C. difficile, stroke, and glycemic emergencies (hyper/hypoglycemia)
• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and closely monitor for acute clinical deterioration
• Safely administer IV, PO, and IM medications, including antibiotics, cardiac medications, insulin, and anticoagulants
• Implement and maintain fall precautions and infection prevention measures, including contact isolation for C. difficile
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members in a teaching hospital setting
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation, order management, care planning, and SBAR handoffs
• Provide patient and family education on disease processes, medications, and discharge instructions
