Over the past eight years, I have been a patrol officer at the Hopkins Police Department. During this time, I have have always worked to better the department in any way that I can. I look to solve problems, suggest improvements and be a leader among my fellow officers. I am hoping to bring these skills to Golden Valley, where I can grow my career as I help grow the Golden Valley Police Department.

  • Use of Force Instructor - Designed the entire Use of Force program at Hopkins Police Department as well as regularly train existing officers and new officers This program has been very well received by both officers and supervisors I also designed and introduced a ground fighting program to help officers better control suspects, increasing both officer and suspect safety
  • Field Training Officer - I have trained numerous officers on each step of field training I have also written several pre-service training programs for officers starting the FTO process
  • Stop Stick / Terminator Instructor - Certified by Stop Stick as an official instructor I trained the entire Hopkins Police Department on the use of both tools and assisted the Training Sergeant on field implementation
  • Uniform Committee Member - I am the longest tenured member of the Hopkins Uniform Committee I updated the initial issue list for new hires, researched and selected current uniform shirt/pants, and have assisted in getting numerous new items approved for use after officer requests (sweaters, light jackets, etc) I also wrote a proposal for load bearing vests Once this was approved, I created an implementation plan for the vests to certify officers with them prior to use in the field
  • Pre-Pursuit Task Force - I was a member of a committee that assisted in re-writing policy to allow for the use of pre-pursuit options (stop sticks, vehicle pins, etc) These recommendations were accepted and are now department policy
  • Criminal Intelligence Bulletin - I created the monthly intelligence bulletin for Hopkins Police Department I have been in charge of this for almost a year and a half This information has increased officer safety and assisted officers in making numerous arrests
  • Jiu Jitsu - Training in Jiu Jitsu for the last seven years at Alliance Jiu Jitsu in Edina, MN This has been incorporated into my Use of Force program at Hopkins
