Summary

I am an indigenous Yaqui women based in the Bay Area. Throughout my time in the Bay, I have been connected to arts education and social justice. I have been an educator; I worked for immigration rights leading to co-found a pro-immigrant collective named CALMA with my comrades; and I have been a big advocate for housing rights in both San Francisco and Oakland, CA. I know what it is like to be at the front line with the community at the same time that I know the structure of rights based nonprofit organizations. Working alongside Black femme leaders has been an honor and has made me grow so much politically, professionally, and spiritually. Also, I am bilingual English/Spanish which has given me a great opportunity to work on language justice for newcomers. Lastly, I believe I am a strong candidate for this Program Officer position because I am passionate about achieving equity and sustainability particularly for Black, Indigenous & Brown folks.
