For the last two years, I have been serving as a Youth Ambassador with the NJ Division of Civil Rights. Through this program, I have

• I attended meetings to learn about disability rights and justice, including acts such as IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
• I produced a 10 minute podcast episode about disability rights and justice as part of a community education and outreach project.
• I am currently developing a publication about student experiences with learning differences and intellectual disabilities for a community education and outreach project.

Selected for this competitive summer program run by PEN America; activities included:

• Collaborating with peers to develop an advocacy project on free expression

• As a "fun club" volunteer at this community center supporting refugee and asylee families, I provided childcare while parents received ESL tutoring and help finding employment. This included:
• Leading crafts for children
• Playing board games, cards, and active games with children
• Providing homework help and reading support

• Provided math, writing, and Spanish tutoring to peers at Grover Cleveland Middle School
