Writing Sample

  • READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY (Dr. Seuss Day) – March 2nd
  • The National Education Association (NEA) holds an event in libraries across the country called "Read Across America". I am a very strong believer in reading the written word, eg: “A book”. This event was held at The Brooklyn Public Library's Flatlands Branch. Community leaders, celebrities, police officers and firemen from different parts of the city are invited to our public libraries to read to our children.
  • I have been volunteering as the “Event coordinator” for the Brooklyn Public Library for quite some time now. One of our best, most beautiful readers we have gotten so far is our own lovely New York State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud! She read "Edward Gets Messy" by Rita Meade, who works for the Brooklyn Public Library and is also an author of a few very good children’s books. The children loved her, and she really knows how to captivate a room! I want to thank Roxanne for volunteering for this great event!
  • I also read to these well-behaved amazing kids. It was very heartwarming and memorable. To see these children and wonder “Who are going to be the next leaders of our community?” is quite daunting! This is why I find this day very important. You never know which child this will impact in a positive way.
