Undergraduate Research Assistant
- Hands-on animal care experience, including routine maintenance and management of mouse and rat colonies.
- Skilled in animal handling techniques such as weaning, food deprivation protocols, and weight monitoring for experimental procedures.
- CITI Program certified with specialized training in:
- Animal Biosafety and BSL-1 procedures
- General Lab Animal Handling
- Working with Mice and Rats in a Research Setting
- Proficient in performing various euthanasia techniques, including cervical dislocation, cardiac puncture, and thoracotomy in mice.
- Regularly conducted in vivo and in vitro cystometrogram procedures with proficiency in ATP collection and surgical preparation, including anesthetizing and preparing surgical fields on animal models.
- Experienced in surgical techniques, including bladder dissection and tube implantation surgeries in mice.
- Proficient in UVM's Office of Animal Care Management's VOS system for protocol management and compliance tracking.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism for graphing, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
- Experienced in sterilization and autoclaving of surgical instruments to maintain aseptic conditions.
