  • Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) and Neurodegenerative Diseases, Miami University, Oxford, OH, Fall 2021, Collaborated with peers in the program cohort to develop a PIO question and complete a systematic review of evidence on our provided topic. PIO Question: 'In adults with neurodegenerative diseases does RMT maintain the patient's condition or prevent further decline of speech and swallowing function?' Developed systematic review using 16 articles and established a recommendation for the use of RMT then presented findings to mentors, professors, peers, alumni, and first-year graduate students at Miami University.
  • Music First Dementia Study, Dr. Berguson, Joy's House, Indianapolis, IN, Spring 2020, Administered the SLUMS, MMSE, and WAB assessments prior to working with individuals. Observed sundowning symptoms before and after individualized music playlist listening in adults with dementia. Examined the effects of cerumen impaction treatment on benefits of music listening for affect, behavior, and cognition in adults with dementia.
  • Independent Primary Progressive Aphasia Study, Dr. Mary Gospel, Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, Spring 2020, Scheduled to conduct a workshop for individuals with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), their caregivers, clinicians, and interested community members.
