Work History

Nursing Assistant

Indiana Regional Medical Center
Indiana, PA
07.2024 - Current

Assisted nurses with patient care on a cardiac and neurology unit, which included taking vitals every four hours, obtaining blood glucose checks, changing incontinent patients, assisting patients with ambulation, encouraging activities of daily living, and monitoring patients for changes in status.

Nurse Extern

Indiana Regional Medical Center
Indiana, PA
06.2024 - 07.2024
  • Completed a six week nurse extern program. Requirements to obtain a position in the program included authentication of participating in a school of nursing with two clinical rotations, involving med-surge rotation. There were six nursing students selected to participate in the program. The program allowed us to provide nursing care under the supervision of a preceptor. This included participating in two code blues, administering medications under supervision, checking placement of an NG tube, doing focused assessments on patients, treating patients, and communicating with providers on changes in patients' conditions, as well as documenting nursing care. As well as observing different floors throughout the hospital, which included the cath lab, where I got to carefully observe a stent be placed in a critically ill patient.

Patient Escort

Indiana Regional Medical Center
Indiana , PA
07.2023 - 06.2024
  • Started my journey in the hospital setting as a patient escort in 2023. I brought patients from the emergency department to testing, including MRI and CT. I worked within both facilities, where I helped transfer patients to imaging equipment and helped the technicians with completing required testing.

Physical Therapy Technician/Front Office Coordinator

Drayer Physical Therapy
Milford , PA
01.2020 - 05.2024
  • Starting in high school, I worked at a physical therapy institute where I assisted physical therapists in exercises for patients. I assisted patients recovering from all forms of injuries including shoulder tears, ACL repairs, back surgeries, and more. As I continued to work, I transitioned into the office coordinator role as we were short-staffed. Here, I called insurance companies to verify office visits, acquired co-pays from patients, scheduled patient visits, answered phone calls from patients and other doctor offices, obtained prescriptions and medical histories for appropriate patient care. I did both both jobs simultaneously with the help of other staff members.

Home Health Aide

Bayada Pediatrics Home Care
Blairsville, PA

Accomplishments

Recieved the "Bee Award" at Indiana Regional Medical Center for care for patients. I was nominated by an incredible nurse, Chelsea Relich. The nomination story reads as followed; "Madison goes above and beyond for her patients. She is patient, kind, and compassionate. She takes the time to talk and listen to her patients. She is quick to offer help not only with her patients, but staff too. I have heard other staff members compliment her on how quick she was to notice a patient's oxygen dropping and they said she was really great. She took time to brush a patient's hair, which the patient was really thankful! She 100% makes sure her patients are well taken care of, clean, and safe. I definitely thinks she deserves a BEE Award. During a conversation, it did not take long to see that she loves her job and cares so much for her patients. She is currently in nursing school and I know she will be a wonderful nurse." The BEE Award stands for "be excellent every day" and it recognized to honor extraordinary partners in patient care.

Why I want to work for you

  • From a young age, I noticed my attraction to taking care of other people. Growing up, I used to watch health care providers treat patients and I so desperately wanted to be apart of that community. It is what drove me to seek my bachelors degree and obtain my nursing license. I put myself in uncomfortable situations so I could become well-rounded in hopes to take care of my patients in my best manner. January 17th of 2022, I went through the most difficult time in my life. I was a freshman nursing major, and I lost my mom unexpectedly. Two weeks later, I came back to school and finished the semester as it is what my mom would have wanted. Little did I know, the worst moment of my life would give me one of the greatest gifts a nurse can obtain. That is, of course, being able to relate to grief. I have the privilege to understand what grief can do to our patients, as I experienced it first-hand myself. Patients don't just grieve death, but they grieve the life they used to have. I am committed to hearing my patients, seeing my patients for who they are and who they strive to be. You're hospital, Alleghany General Hospital, will allow me to do just that. It will allow me to grieve with my patients, and encourage them to push through the pain and come out on the other end. You are in the core of Pittsburgh, a city with high crime rates and mortality rates. I have high hopes to use my nursing knowledge and career at your hospital to become a nurse who takes action. I believe your hospital will allow me to gain knowledge, learn from staff members, and adhere to outstanding patient care.
