I have been actively involved in youth ministry and parish life throughout high school and college, which has helped form my leadership, faith, and desire to serve the Church. During high school, I was a youth leader for my home parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus in Norfolk, through a youth group called SPARK. I participated in this ministry during my sophomore, junior, and senior years, where I helped lead youth events, retreats, and faith activities for younger students in the parish.
I also volunteered at JC Camp, a five-day summer church camp, where I served on the prayer team for four of the five years I attended. This role involved leading prayer, supporting campers spiritually, and helping create a faith-filled environment throughout the week. In addition, I have helped with several Confirmation retreats and have led small group discussions for students preparing to receive the sacrament.
I have also volunteered with the Totus Tuus program when missionaries visited my parish, helping supervise and work with first and second grade students during the day program. Now as a college student, I continue to stay involved by helping prepare retreats, serving as a small group leader, and walking alongside two younger girls in a discipleship group, supporting them in their faith and personal growth. These experiences have helped me grow in leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and sharing the Catholic faith with others.
