I am an organized and motivated employee eager to apply my skills as a Registered Nurse to your facility. I focus on delivering high-quality care to clients of all backgrounds while protecting patient safety and promoting satisfaction with the desire to take on new challenges.
I worked full-time N12s on the Progressive Care Unit, where I first learned all basic CNA cares. I assisted patients with HS cares, toileting, repositioning, and ambulation as well as hourly rounding with vital sign assessments when ordered. I learned how to prioritize the plan of care when needed by reporting concerns through the chain of command and further collaborating with the healthcare team to be able to provide high-quality patient care. I am experienced with MediTech electronic charting tool.
I obtain comprehensive pain assessments while providing emotional support to patients who are dealing with chronic or debilitating pain issues. I assist in pain procedures by assessing vital signs, administering IV medications, and prepping sterile fields. After procedures, I assess, monitor, and evaluate patient conditions and response to treatments, and give comprehensive discharge instructions to patients.
Our student organization was in charge of health awareness planning for the whole university. We planned and executed several events such as WALKtober, Trash the Ash, Dragons Give Week, MSUM Blood Drives, and more. By doing that, we enhanced awareness of health resources and connected individuals with programs by making a Newsletter called The Flush. We also conveyed public talks and presentations on campus to educate our peers on the importance of health, prevention, and treatment.
I assisted with ADLs such as personal hygiene management, feeding, toileting, and ambulation, as well as conducted routine checks on standard patient vitals, blood glucose levels, and telemetry oversight. In addition, we follow isolation precautions to collect biological specimens for laboratory transport to complete diagnostic tests while always exhibiting compassionate care and adequate communication regarding individual patient's needs. Documenting correct information in charts and communicating status updates to interdisciplinary care team members is an everyday occurrence. I am experienced with EPIC electronic charting tool.
I transitioned from working consistent D8's on the Medical/Surgical Unit to the Float Pool throughout nursing school. I was fully orientated to the Clinical Evaluation Unit, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy Unit, Neuro Medical/Surgical Unit, Ortho Medical/Surgical Unit, Cardiac & Intermediate Care Unit, and Critical Care Unit. I was also trained to work as a sitter, telesitter, and with transport. I worked days, evenings, and nights in 4, 8, 12, or 16-hour increments.
I determined patient needs through monitoring vital signs and telemetry, conducting nursing assessments, interpreting lab results, and considering diagnostic test results. In addition, I treated patients using pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods to address various diagnoses while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members. I also oversaw patient consultation recommendations and collaborated accordingly with the team to compose discharge plans to prevent post-discharge readmissions. To summarize, I implemented total patient care by utilizing the nursing process.
I delivered optimum treatments to critical-care patients following the policies and procedures of hospital regulations. This includes assessing and closely monitoring vital signs, urine output, and other pertinent criteria depending on the clinical situation, all while titrating various medication drips. I often collected lab samples from central and arterial lines and implemented timely nursing interventions depending on the results. I also helped patients and families feel comfortable during challenging and stressful times, promoting recovery and reducing compliance issues.
I assist with surgery preparation by reviewing patient medical history and current medications to ensure favorable patient outcomes. I also administer proper medications, monitor patient vital signs, and chart and consult the physician with any observed abnormalities. Once the patient is in the post-anesthesia care unit, vital signs are monitored and discharge instructions are thoroughly reviewed with patients and family members.
