I was the inspector for all new and existing construction for transmission, substation and distribution. I also worked on desktop and drone inspections.

This assignment in Northern California primarily centered around going out to substations/distribution/transmission structure locations assigned by Pacific Gas Electric (PGE) in groups of approximately 100 structures in a somewhat specific area or country, and inspected the structure and its components for damage or non-exempt equipment status (components that have the potential for causing or producing sparks that could result in a fire).

During my employment with North Houston Pole Line my experience covered a wide range of differing aspects of power delivery construction activities which include the following:

I was an inspector/crew foreman for substation construction and augmentation (addition of new bays and high side feeds). I'm a certified aluminum buss welder in addition to being well versed in foundation, structural steel components installation, switches, breakers, both oil and gas installation, installation of strain buss, transformer assembly, commissioning, and control wiring installation and termination.

I was an inspector/crew foreman for distribution including feeder installation; pole change out; energized conductor replacement; voltage conversions; rubber gloving and hot sticking; transformer banking; distribution voltages up to 34.5kV switch installation and adjustment; experience with capacitor band and regulator installation and removal.

I was an inspector/crew foreman for transmission with experience to 345kV; wood, single and multi-pole; H and K structure type; mono pole and lattice; steel tower construction; foundation and direct burial installation; conductor installation; stringing, sagging, and dead ending of single and multiple conductor bundling.
