Physician Substitute (LPN)
Talecris Biotherapeutics, Raleigh, NC (A Grifols Company)
I worked as the first travel nurse, in Grifols, for 3 years. I was sent to various clinics to train newly hired
nurses in the process of determining donor suitability, utilizing Quality compliance and SOP procedures.
I was trained on both Company platforms (Talecris and Biomat), which were two separate entities until
they were purchased by Grifols. This training allowed me to operate in either clinic, and provide medical
care to donors who had medical reactions to the plasmapheresis procedure.
Ensures initial donor suitability and eligibility, product integrity, and the continued health of donors.
Determines initial suitability of donor to undergo plasmapheresis through verification of
accumulated data and physical examination.
Provides appropriate medical care to donors during the plasmaperesis process and, if complications
arise, contacts all necessary parties.
Sent to Roanoke, VA and became a Designated Trainer for Company (Talecris). I trained six(6)
nurses and returned to Raleigh after being in Roanoke for 14 months.
