Playing and creating music. Collecting various artifacts and items for artistic inspiration

As an artist, you find ways of finding inspiration.  Some artists find inspiration by traveling, exploring, socializing, and living life.  Various artists also are notorious for collecting random items that fuel their curiosity and feed their imagination.  I land on the latter.  I love collecting many items, from old comic books, old postcards, vintage toys, books, statues, and instruments.  Most, if not all, of the items I collect eventually seep into my collective mind and become the subjects of my artwork.  Again, I have studied many artists who mold their lives (lifestyles) into what they collect and create.  What exactly inspires me about collecting certain items?   The visual element and uniqueness of that object that fires the imagination.  Collecting vintage items, for me, takes me to another world that I can explore and create.  it's my happy place when life gets complicated or very busy.  I lean on collecting random items to discover new themes and new techniques within my artwork.
