Paraprofessional

Crane School District
Yuma
09.2006 - 05.2008

I worked with head teacher of resources Mrs. Shelly Hawkins for 2 years. Under her supervision while attending night school to become a teacher. I assisted her with small group teaching and one on one teaching. During this time, The most important objective was to keep students safe and actively learning in a positive learning environment. Each student had their own Individual Education Plan that I was actively envolved with each of the students plan. Each student learning were different. I made sure each student differential learning needs were met to keep them actively engaged in learning. I model and taught basic skills and study approaches to help student's succeed in their homeroom class. The student were visually assessed on a daily basis. This would make me aware if they were learning or if I had to try a different teaching approach to meet the students needs. The students were assessed every 2 weeks to check if their learning goals were met. If the student achieved their learning goal, then I would go forward and teach them other skills. If the student did not meet their learning goal, I would go back and reteach the objective until they successfully met their learning goal. As a paraprofessional communication and collaborated well with students educator made it easier for me to reinforce what skills were being taught in the classroom. This was to ensure students success in their learning the skills to meet Arizona State Standards. The student success depended on developing strategies for individual and group learning. I keep a well clean and organized with learning materials and supplies to meet each student needs. I offered each student personal educational, behavior and emotional support and social growth. I also assessed student who were being tested for language barriers to determine if they needed an IEP. I went to a training to learn how to test students by using Munoz Woodstock program. When I enter data in the computer a report was printed and was given to the educators who were involved with the students meeting to determine the findings.

Classroom time management, behavior, transitioning have a lot to do with classroom management, students success and behavior in a total learning environment. Meeting all objectives in the Arizona State standards throughout the year is important to meet the learning objective without getting off track. When, speaking to students about the objective they get a better understanding of what they are expected to learn. Building a positive relationship between the students and their parents and teaching staff helps with student success. I was aware of each students skill level and I modified the lesson to meet all students educational goals. monitoring student progress by exams to check students learning. I also assisted in state testing in my classroom for each student. Weekly assessments would determine each student's learning.
