Dug ditch for MV & DC wiring , averaged about 2000 ft a day, with a few turns and RD crossings. My ditches would vary from 3 to 6 ft in depth, with slops or bench on walls. At times i would go dig inverter pads for the pipe installers, that is digging real close to metal piles aswell mutipul ditches crossing or close to each other. Also go dig out or clean the ends of the horizontal bores, which meant expose the end of pipe and sloping those walls real good. Dig trenches under power lines, around and under utility lines, were we had to fall back were there was wire covered aswell. basically all the critical digging i did. Did backfill too, in layers so the moister and compaction test past, meant mixing dirt with water. Loaded and unloaded semi-trucks with different materials, Pipes, or pallets .Used a dozer or M16 blade to backfill or do the finish grading .
My responsibilities were to dig ditch with 325 cat excavator depths would vary from 3 to 6 ft ,widths from 4 to 14 ft . Had to determine the sizes of trenches by looking at the prints . Did some grading work with a D6 or backfill aswell. Drove water truck to water busy caliche RDs or backfill too. Operated a 299 cat skidsteer for finish dirt work in real tight work areas, little bit of roller compaction.
Averaged 2000 ft of trench a day, from 6 to 14 ft in depth with a gradual slope for the new steel pipe had a minimum of 2 ft of clearance of the existing pipe. We had to slope walls aswell for when digging pipe crossings with a company man present . Also dig bell wholes with egresses and exists for co workers and Welders. When terrain got real hard we had to use hydraulic hammers attachments on the 330 cat excavators. Assisted with the lowering of pipe at the tie ends, Which they had to be in a perfect position for the welders to do there job. Would help with the opening of the rightaway Which included grubbing to 45ing with a D8.Also the clean up too. Helped load and unload machinery from low boys, tie them down aswell,Which meant of using chains, binders, and flags on both sides of trailer.
