Summary

I believe that early parental involvement in a child's educational journey is paramount to a child's success. I have taught reading to high school and college students for 22 years. During that time one trait was evident in almost every one of my students. The one similarity that most of my students had was that they'd not been read to as a child. They didn't know any common fairy tales or nursery rhymes. They confessed that there weren't any books in their homes and their parent(s) didn't read to them. I would love the opportunity to be able to spend my days meeting with parents and families to help educate them in all the ways they can help their child be successful in school.
