  • Performs forward and reverse typing, antibody screen, immediate spin crossmatch and retyping of blood units in Blood Bank
  • Utilizes expertise in the operation of multiple automated analyzers such as Roche Cobas c501, Cobas e411, ACL Elite, Sysmex XN-550, and Siemens Clinitek Status Analyzer
  • Conducts quality control checks, calibration, and troubleshooting of the analyzers in the laboratory
  • Documents and verifies control values from the analyzers to maintain the reliability and validity of test results
  • Performs blood gas testing on Abbott I-Stat1 analyzer and trauma urine drug screening, urine/serum pregnancy test, β-ketone monitoring, HIV screening, rapid Strep A, Monotest, Gastrocult and Hemocult testing
  • Runs COVID, Influenza and RSV screening using the Abbott ID Now
  • Performs microbiological testing including Fecal Occult Blood, Crypto/Giardia screen, and C. difficile antigen-toxin
  • Records, verifies, and reports laboratory results on all performed tests
  • Communicates critical test results with the nursing staff and physicians/providers
  • Collects and prepares samples for shipment to outside contract laboratories for testing
  • Keeps all patient information properly secured and confidential
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sanitizes work area and equipment
