Participates in the installation and alignment of power line poles; stringing primary and

secondary lines; attaching wire to insulators and cross arms; installs, repairs, and replaces

cross arms, supports, insulators, lightning arrestors, and fuse cutouts.

• Participates in the installation, construction, and repair of underground electrical systems by installing primary cables, secondary cables, and transformers; locates trouble spots in the cable span, uses fault finding test equipment, and takes necessary measures to excavate and correct problems; determines whether equipment, such as a transformer, is faulty and

replaces it.

• Operates bucket equipment to ascend to high wires, participates in making energized line

taps, and connecting wires; handles energized aspects of the system independently.

• Monitors safety procedures for self and for crew members.

• Trims and disposes of tree limbs using a bucket truck, chain saw, trimmers, chipper, and

other equipment, such as safety equipment; participates in tree trimming, chipping, and

clean up.

• Transfers wire and power lines from old poles to new poles, and installs metering
