Marlene Maurisset

I am a proud member and officer of the Spanish National Honor Society. As an officer we are the assistants to the founders of the club. We plan then schedule for every meeting, keep attendance, publicly speak to the members, and overall; take charge of the group. As sn officer I also plan donations and offer help to the teachers on campus.

Every Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3- 4:30pm I tutored group of ESOL students, helping them with their homework or basic reading assignments. This taught me to have patients and have a better fundamental at teaching.

I babysat a familly/ friend 11 month old baby for 3 days. His parents went on a cruise for their weeding anniversary. I learned how to take responsibility and put the child first, I only can do things id the baby is doing it or sleep. I learned how to plan a proper schedule that I needed to stick to. I learned how to work with kids and know what every cry meant. Baby sitting improved my confidence with working with children, due to the fact that i want to pursue the job of a pediatrician.

My Neighbors had went on vacation for a month, therefore I had to pet sit their two dogs ans cat. I had to take them out for a walk everyday at 3:45 and then feed them at 4:20. I leaned how organize each dog and cat bowl to its desire location and food to their liking. I also learned how to manage my time according especially knowing what time they'll have to use the bathroom again or get fed.

I volunteered during the morning shift at the labor and delivery unit. I learned how to file new born paper according to the floor and time they were born. I grew better communication skills because I had to walk room to room and give out water to the new mothers, while engaging in a conversation with them. Also I learned what all of the color codes in the hospital mean, including the ring of the bell altering people that a baby has been born.
