Mary Edwards

I just completed my nineteenth year of teaching and have taught at the kindergarten, 5th grade, and 6th grade levels. I served on our Student Assistance Program for nine years, seven years on our Character Education Committee, and three years on our Behavior Intervention Committee.

As an executive board member, I was instrumental in organizing two bowling nights that benefited our local neighborhood association, which supports a summer camp for at-risk students. I also facilitated several training sessions with our Field Service Director, and coordinated a walk-in during the spring of 2018, in support of our public school. I presented at the IFT and OFT president conferences in conjunction with AFT's regional meetings, and I regularly present at our SWAC meetings. I assisted UPID by checking professional development submissions so that members could get their credits. I was the intern with Terri Towler during the 2021/2022 school year. Assisted our region in getting more union training locally. Help organize acts of solidarity for other locals in need of support. In addition, I helped bargain for our local's last four contracts. I sit on the ULI and Racial & Social Justice constituency councils, and I am assisting in writing a resolution to support safety in schools, and academic freedom.
