My first weeks of school I learn about who my students: their interests, social and emotional needs, and how they think. This helps me improve my teaching and enhances my understanding of the students. I focus on analyzing standards incorporating to create engaging lessons and activities. I examine data to different instruction and lessons. A collaborative classroom encourages kids to learn together and share their ideas and thoughts. Open ended questions and investigations allow students to explore and challenge their thinking. I want my kids to make connections, reasons, relationships beyond the classroom with lessons and activities that will hopefully propel students explore the universe. I use metacognition strategies for students to be aware of their own thinking which builds self confidence. I apply kinetic, visual, and auditory methods for every lesson, especial background information and vocabulary which is especially important for EL students.
I am a learner. I learn from my students, too.
