I was first drawn to a career working on the water in Port Townsend as a child watching the ferry and other ships passing by. I got the chance from a ferry boat captain to ride in the wheel house, and steer the boat. I was nine years old, and the experience made a lasting impression on me. At 19 I was in the Coast Guard, and have worked on the water ever since.
