Currently, I work in packaging at the Topeka plant. I am the Package Support Tech IV. My job responsibilities include knowing all the jobs in packaging; both the 3oz and 5oz loader/unloader, all the labelers, all the tray packers, and all the palletizers. I also am familiar with SAP throughout the plant. Before moving to packaging, I was the Process Support Tech IV where I knew the thermos, fillers, sterilization, and the chunk maker (alginate products). I have also worked in receiving. I am familiar with the process from start to finish for the most part. The only areas of production I haven't worked in are the grain room and the meat cell but worked closely with both when I ran the thermos and chunks.
In 2010 I came across an opportunity to buy a liquor store. I negotiated the terms with the previous owner and took over operations on January 1st of 2011. I oversee inventory control and purchasing, employee management, customer relations, accounting, among other duties. I work closely with my brother, who is also in the liquor business, which enables me to have a full time job outside of the store. Throughout my time with Hills, the store has never interfered with me being able to make it to work every day and perform my job duties. Hills will continue to be my priority. The store was always meant to be a side gig and it will continue to be that way.
At PTMW, I worked in the wood and insulation department where we would insulate signal house for the railroad and finish the interior with laminate wood.
This was a business that my parents owned that I started working for when I was 13 years old. I started out as a stocker and over the years I took on more responsibilities and got to the point where I was managing daily operations.
