Summary

Having started the violin young, music is something that has always been with me and something I could always count on to get me out of dark periods. Though I have tremendous love for music and playing the violin, it isn't something I intend to turn into a fully fledged career. I am currently attending the University of Hawaii Maui College with hopes to soon transfer to UH Hilo in order to study to become a pilot. During my time in Hilo I plan to work in a music related field such as teaching, playing gigs, or playing in an orchestra. I am hoping that by participating in the Maui Pops Orchestra, I can reinforce what I already know and learn new things that will help me on my journey.

  • Street performer since the young age of 9, I played on Front St, Lahaina daily while growing up.
  • Played several paid gigs, mostly consisting of birthday parties and private dinners.

  • The program director, Iolani Yamashiro, brought me on board to help pioneer one of the first public school string programs on Maui.
  • The program is currently being hosted at Kahului Elementary and is open to all fourth graders who are interested in strings.
