Install, calibrate electronic systems, components, and subassemblies: Operates and maintains avionics equipment by analyzing operating characteristics, integrated test systems built-in-test (BIT) to isolate malfunctions in integrated avionics systems to include multiplexed data buss systems, recording systems, flight instruments, computers, gyroscopic (gyro) compass systems, inertial navigation systems (INS), primary and secondary flight controls, automatic flight control, engine instrumentation, fuel management systems, central air data systems, communication and navigation systems, aircraft indicating systems, ground proximity warning systems (GPWS). Interprets specifications, schematics, and drawings of systems to accurately and effectively troubleshoot and repair. Determines effective steps and actions in the troubleshooting process to consistently complete tasks. Uses algebraic and trigonometric formulas for determining fuel quantity and various other system functionality and calibration. Provides technical guidance, training, and assistance to lower grade Airmen during modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, align and the troubleshooting process.

Performs pretest, operational, functional, and final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies: Performs and supervises alignment, calibration, and bore-sight of avionics systems. Performs off-equipment maintenance on selected avionics LRUs and maintains peculiar support equipment. Sets up and operates computerized test equipment to test and troubleshoot integrated systems. Assists in preparation of training plans to maximize Reserve training on Uniformed Training Assemblies. Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order program: Inspects and evaluates aircraft maintenance activities during flight line maintenance, Home Station Checks (HSC), Minor and Major Isochronal Inspections (ISO). Inspects and verifies operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software or cables. Modifies avionics systems according to time compliance technical order (TCTO) publications. Updates operational logs, inspection records, aircraft forms, and automated maintenance systems by use of a GO-81 (CAMS) terminal. Diagnoses malfunctions by applying technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, integrated test systems and other test equipment before removing, replacing, and repairing faulty system wiring, electrical connectors, antennas, transmission lines, and multi-conduct.
