Career Change (Open To Other Possibilities)
Marlton,NJ

Summary

I'm looking for a job that provides a livable salary and benefits. I realize that there are a lot of job qualifications that I don't have. However, I am willing to learn and obtain new skills. Am I a fast learner? Possibly. It all depends on what I'm being taught. Train me. Give me the time, patience, and respect, and believe me, it will have been worth the investment.

Work History

Driver/Laborer

Factory Motor Parts Company
Medford, NJ
05.2021 - 12.2024
  • The work here was the same as my other auto parts jobs
  • I delivered to local customers within a 15-20 mile radius of the store
  • Inside the store, I'd be pulling parts for outgoing orders or walk-in customers, doing inventory checks, reorganizing parts, or putting away an incoming warehouse order
  • Sometimes we'd have big orders going back to one of our warehouses and I'd pull and package those as well

Warehouse Worker

Paul MacHenry & Company
Moorestown, NJ
08.2018 - 03.2020
  • I pulled parts and helped load vans for outgoing orders
  • I also helped unload vans for when there were incoming loads, such as special orders and returns
  • Receiving would sometimes get in a big load and I would help them put everything away
  • When there was nothing else to do, I would sweep and clean the warehouse or reorganize some of the shelves

Driver / Warehouse

Auto Plus Auto Parts
Moorestown, NJ
05.2012 - 05.2018
  • I delivered auto parts and chemicals to repair shops in the surrounding area and picked up the customers' returns and warranty claims whenever needed
  • I sometimes did shuttle runs to two other locations of ours, one in King Of Prussia and another up in Monmouth Junction
  • I also went through the returns in the warehouse and divided up the news, cores, and defects onto skids

Driver/Warehouse

South Jersey Auto Supply (Now part of Eastern Auto Parts Warehouse)
West Berlin, NJ
04.2005 - 12.2011
  • I pulled parts for outgoing orders, set up the runs (deliveries), dispatched drivers, helped load the trucks with big orders (mainly chemical orders), pulled stock orders, checked in returns, put new returns away, skidded up the cores and the defects to go back to the different warehouses, reorganized the inventory when the shelves were improperly stocked, did inventory checks, occasionally checked in incoming inventory, cleaned and straightened the store occasionally, sometimes answered the phones and took orders, and went on local deliveries and picked up customers' returns when there were no drivers available

Additional Information

I have been in the auto parts business for over 20 years now. My work has been in warehouse, delivery, and dispatching. They're not exactly career jobs, and yet, I stuck with them way longer than anticipated. I've seen mismanaging, micromanaging, poor human resources practices, a huge lack of responsibility among sales reps, and disdain and mockery for other locations and employees within the companies. Professionalism isn't just about how the customers are served, it's also about how the company functions within itself. Employees at a properly run company should have dignity and mutual respect. I want to work for a company that has my morals, my ethics, and my goals.

Assessments

Only with my most recent job did we have to take safety training courses online.  We could either do it on the computer at the store, or at home.  Each course lasted an average of ten minutes and then would quiz us at the end.  It basically taught us safety techniques that any person with a little bit of common sense would've already known.  We had to take it annually. We got an online certification every time we completed a course; a worthless, pointless certification to say the least.
