I have been building computers for about 23 years now give or take. I usually research the parts for the build and determine the usage for the computer, discuss the costs and how long it will take to build and charge accordingly. I even setup my home network and manage all of the relevant settings.
When i worked at Publix in 2000 i used to take customers and employees computers and laptops home to try and fix them. I would also visit their residence if they could not bring the computer with them at the time. I usually only charged $20 if i could fix the issue. I was still learning at this point so many issues I could not fix like one needing a bios reflash as I didn't have the tools or software to do this. If I couldn't fix the issue I wouldn't charge and would tell them the issue and recommend how they could go about fixing the issue. I know most dos commands, i have dual booted windows and macintosh os and have delved into linux. I have done some small repairs on laptops, consoles and tried to repair and cell phone screen but more was damaged than originally thought.
